75th Anniversary Celebration - June 2-3, 2006

During the weekend of June 2-3, 2006  the Band celebrated its 75th anniversary. On Friday evening, the current band was joined by alumni for a rehearsal at the West Vancouver Secondary gymnasium in preparation for the parade and concert on Saturday.  This was an amazing experience for all involved - what a sound!  The rehearsal was followed by a social reception at the Kay Meek Centre for all alumni along with band parents, current and past.  A display  of band photos and memorabilia covering 75 years was set up, hors d'oeuvres were served, a jazz quartet played, and a showing of the NFB short film "Boy Meets Band" was viewed, featuring the band members from 1961.  Saturday morning saw everyone up early for the Community Day parade where the alumni joined in again in the march down Marine Drive to Ambleside Park where a wonderful concert under sunny skies took place.
